Traditional chlor-alkali production relies on refined salt brine as its primary feedstock. Green Brine Technologies is developing a different approach integrating desalination brine valorisation with chlor-alkali production to create a more circular industrial model.

ESSLEY KALOLA
Project Director

Essley is a cofounder and the technical and scientific backbone of Green Brine Technologies, bringing rare academic depth in both chemistry and renewable energy to the challenge of industrial brine valorisation.
A published researcher and lecturer at the University of Namibia, Essley holds a BSc in Chemistry and an MSc in Renewable Energy — a combination uniquely suited to designing energy-efficient chemical production systems. With three years leading technology assessment, infrastructure design, research and development, and project feasibility for Green Brine Technologies, Essley has been instrumental in validating the two-system NF and OARO brine concentration process and translating complex scientific concepts into commercially investable engineering propositions. His academic and professional networks in the water and energy science community have been critical in connecting the company with world-leading technical advisors.
MARTIN ITAMALO

Martin is the co-founder and driving force behind Green Brine Technologies, Namibia’s pioneering brine valorisation and industrial chemistry company. With over three years leading the development of one of Namibia’s most ambitious industrial projects, Martin brings together technical vision, commercial strategy and stakeholder management to advance the country’s first Chlor-Alkali manufacturing facility from concept to investment-ready reality. His leadership has secured preliminary land approval from the Erongo Regional Council, official equipment quotations from OEMs, USD 13.4 million in market validation letters of intent, and recognition from Ocean Hub Africa, Greencape, GCIP Namibia and the BlueInvest programme.
Martin is working toward his Honours Degree in Chemistry at the University of Namibia and combines deep local market knowledge with an extensive network spanning Namibia’s mining, water and industrial sectors.
WAYNE RUKERO

Wayne is acofounder and a seasoned corporate and commercial attorney with over five years of experience at leading Southern African law firms including Bowmans and ENS Africa — two of the most respected legal practices on the continent.
Holding an LLB from the University of Namibia and an LLM from Loyola University New Orleans, Wayne brings deep expertise in corporate transactions, regulatory compliance, project finance documentation and commercial contracting to Green Brine Technologies.
He leads the company’s legal workstreams including the NDA framework with technology and commercial partners, the corporate conversion from Close Corporation to Private Company, the Erongo Regional Council land negotiations and the brine offtake agreement with Orano.
His combination of international legal training and deep Namibian regulatory knowledge is essential for navigating the complex legal landscape of a first-of-kind industrial project.

A Chemical Engineer with an MEng from Imperial College London — one of the world’s top five engineering universities — Daniel spent over five years in climate strategy and investment at Accenture UK and Macquarie Group UK, two of the world’s most respected firms in infrastructure investment and sustainability advisory.
His experience building financial models and investment cases for large-scale infrastructure projects in the UK and Europe is directly applied to Green Brine Technologies’ financial projections, CAPEX analysis and investor engagement. Daniel bridges the worlds of engineering and finance with rare fluency — a critical capability for a capital-intensive industrial project targeting sophisticated development finance institutions and impact investors.

Holding an LLB from the University of Namibia, Fadzai manages Green Brine Technologies’ corporate governance, statutory compliance, board documentation, regulatory filings and BIPA corporate registration processes.
As Company Secretary and legal advisor, she ensures the company meets all Namibian legal and corporate requirements during the critical development phase — from board minutes and resolutions to regulatory submissions and compliance reporting.
Her international project management experience adds a cross-border dimension to the company’s governance capability, particularly valuable as Green Brine Technologies engages with European development finance partners, international technology providers and global innovation programmes.

Holding a BSc in Accounting from the University of Namibia, Benita ensures that Green Brine Technologies maintains full tax compliance and optimal tax structuring throughout the project development phase and into commercial operations.
Her in-depth knowledge of Namibian tax legislation and regulatory requirements is particularly critical for a first-of-kind industrial project that will introduce new chemical manufacturing tax classifications, import duty structures and export incentive mechanisms into the Namibian fiscal framework. Benita’s guidance ensures the company’s financial model and investor documentation accurately reflect the Namibian tax environment.

His work on the project’s financial model — incorporating verified inputs from OEMs — has produced the detailed, source-referenced financial projections that underpin Green Brine Technologies’ engagement with development finance institutions including the Development Bank of Namibia.
